The Stirling Revitalization Project/Market Update

The Stirling Revitalization Project

I remember, a couple of months ago, driving down Main Avenue in Stirling on my way to work. I was horrified at the sight of dozens of trees being cut down. There were quite a few residents standing on their door steps and chatting with their neighbors….some with a look of bewilderment on their faces. Then it dawned on me…. this was the beginning stage of The Stirling Revitalization Project.

Even though it was quite shocking to see all those trees being cut down I have resigned to being optimistic. The underground wiring for the new street lamps has been completed and the sidewalk phase should be completed within a week or 2. Next comes the new ornamental street lamps, benches and all 40 (yes… 40) trees will be replaced. We can look forward to the finished product sometime in October.

I will forever be an advocate of Long Hill Township. I believe we are just as desirable as any of our neighboring communities and the new, old town look for downtown Stirling can only but add charm to this great town!

Market update - Pricing homes to sell

Each and every home that is put on the market will sell if it's priced right! Regardless of the location or the condition of the home, again, every home will sell. It is crucial to get this fact across to our sellers.
We need to make sure that we are thorough in our research of the recent comparable sales and then suggest a price to the seller which makes the home more attractive than its competition.
Let’s get aggressive with broker open houses, public open houses, “just listed” mailers and plenty of internet marketing.
Many Realtors are being faced with sellers that "have to walk away with a certain amount of money out of the sale." We are seeing sellers write a check at the settlement table if they really want to sell. We are also seeing sellers not listen to the advice of their Realtors and they are remaining steadfast on their “have to walk away with” price. These are the homes that are continually expiring.
In our area we are seeing multiple offers on listings if the home is priced correctly, and we are also seeing homes expire which are not priced correctly! Which listings would you rather have?

Live Earth Concert

I’d like to move my attention from Real Estate to life and the planet that we ALL live on.

On 7/7/07 Al Gore, Kevin Wall, and a whole slue of entertainers on every continent brought us the Live Earth concert. Finally….. a big enough voice for us to stop and listen to the climate crisis. Maybe now we can focus on a common good for all people on this earth. No matter what age, race, color or political affiliation. This is about ALL of us!!!!

So let’s all work together and make an effort to change our ways. I’m talking small changes that will make a major difference! Listed below are just a few things that each of us can do to combat global warming.

Refill water bottles
Change all your light bulbs to CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs
Unplug your chargers when not in use
Shut down computers instead of putting to sleep
Use less paper products
Turn your air conditioner up 1 degree
Turn your heat down 1 degree
Buy hybrid vehicles
Check your tire pressure
Plant trees
Car pool
Take shorter showers
Turn water off while brushing your teeth or brush your teeth in the shower

After watching Live Earth do you think millions of people will change the bulbs in their homes to CFLs? Will they shut off the lights and appliances when they're not using them? I believe they will. I know I will!
